Shares strategy for 300% Business Growth in Four Years In spite of Economy

November 6, 2008 - Conway Services has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a pole barn with a dirt floor to one of the largest heating and cooling contractors in Memphis. November 5-7, that journey will take center stage as John Conway leads his team of professionals at Conway Services in mentoring 35 owners and managers of independent plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical contracting companies from across the continent. He will do so, guided by his father’s founding principles of “always doing what you say you’re going to do.”

John Conway purchased Conway Services from his father in 1998. He has taken it from $250,000 in annual revenue (from 1994) to $6 million; with 23 employees and 21 trucks. In the last four years, Conway Services has grown 300%, which he attributes to his membership in Nexstar® Inc., a world-class business-development and best practices organization delivering comprehensive business training, systems and support to independent home service providers. Nexstar business coaches and fellow members have mentored John Conway and his team and shared their knowledge and expertise on everything from sales to service.

Nexstar holds “peer group meetings” so members have the opportunity to see and learn from the best-run companies. Conway will set the standard and raise the bar by sharing insight into how good business strategies have carried them through a year of change, resulting from economic downturn. Conway’s new construction business has dropped 76% while service has grown 16% and replacement, 36%. Add a 22% cut in expenses and the numbers add up to success.
